NVQ Overview

The requirement to have access to competent advice within your business has led many businesses to consider how best to develop in-house competence levels to an acceptable standard. NVQs in Occupational Health and Safety are a proven method of harnessing the abilities and ambitions of key employees alongside the structure of vocational qualifications to achieve impressive levels of compliance.

There are two lead qualifications we are accredited to deliver:

  • Occupational Awards Limited (OAL) Occupational Health and Safety Level 3
  • Occupational Awards Limited (OAL) Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice Level 5

NVQ Level 5

The NVQ Level 5 is a ‘practitioner level’ qualification and is designed over a diverse number of  units to give the candidate a broad, but yet precise insight to the competencies needed to develop a high level of responsibility and compliance. Candidates completing the full level 5 typically move onto Graduate Membership of the Instistute of Occupational Safety and Health ( Grad IOSH) facilitating further progress to chartered status, CMIOSH. The qualification includesa dedicated optional unit to assist in the candidates CPD and professional development. DTD offer additional support ad guidance to those who want to progress their professional development.

NVQ Level 3

The NVQ Level 3 is a qualification that targets those who have supervisory / supervisory management responsibilities within their organisation. The level 3 allows them to demonstrate their knowledge and application of techniques required within the business. It is suited to those who may have already gained a qualification such as IOSH Managing Safely and who wish to apply more detailed learning of health and safety procedures and processes.

The 7 unit qualification includes both mandatory and optional units and covers competencies in Risk Assessment, Accident Investigation, Developing and Monitoring Work Procedures, Health and Safety Culture and Environmental Health and Safety. Our client base is impressive and includes The Royal Mint, Churngold Construction, South Wales Police, Magnox Trawsfynydd and Wylfa decommissioning sites, representatives from the armed forces and several local authorities.
